Donyngs IBC have decided to cancel next Wednesday’s Spitfire League. This is due to the current COVID situation and concern about the large numbers of bowlers that would be in the club at the end of Session 1 and the start of Session 2.

Dear Members and Friends

Preparations are being finalised for this year’s event. Due to the current COVID-19 situation we ask all attendees to wear a mask in the Clubhouse unless you are consuming a cup of filter coffee, tea or a delicious sausage roll, mince pie or home-made cake!

The Clubhouse will be well ventilated. Although the heaters will be on, please wear warm clothing as the temperature will not be as cosy as usual.

So do join us for our final event of 2021. All proceeds are in aid of Club funds. See the attached flyer for full details. If you have any good quality surplus items to donate to the Bring & Buy table that would be appreciated

The 2021 League finished on 1st December with the Lions securing top place with a win over the Tigers. Well done to the Lions – team leader Alan Beaver, Brenda Avery and Gill Jarrett who played extra sessions after several team members had to withdraw.

Current 2022 plans are that a new pairs league will commence on 11th January. New teams will be drawn on 4th January after a practice session. All are welcome to this practice session which will start at 2 pm.

As we head into the final week of the league the latest table shows the Leopards and Lions vying for the top spot which will be decided on Tuesday (30th) and Wednesday (1st) when each of them play the potential wooden spoonists – Pumas and Tigers.

A new league will commence on Tuesday 11th January with new teams. On Tuesday 4th January there will be a practice session starting at 2pm. If you would like to try this version of the sport of bowls come along then or come to the Saturday Drive tomorrow or on Saturday 4th December.

Godstone can’t get a team on Wednesday so the Spitfire League match is cancelled on Wednesday . It may be rearranged or cancelled so further information is expected at a later date.

Items for the Bring’N’Buy stall and Christmas Draw prizes are very welcome. These can be left in the clubhouse on Friday mornings or most Tuesday/Wednesday or Saturday afternoons (not Weds 7th Nov) or brought on the day. Thank you to those who have already donated items.

CATS LEAGUE The current schedule will finish on 1st December. There will be no further fixtures in 2021. There will be a practice session on Tuesday 4th January. Just turn up if you want to play. If you would like a commemorative certificate as a winner or finalist and haven’t ordered one then you need to do this by Wednesday 10th November.

Please note that Donyngs IBC now have caterers and the Spitfire League matches will be followed by sandwiches & cakes and players will now be charged £6 so PLEASE BRING THE CORRENT MONEY!!!
