Captains Day 2016

Captains' Day

Catpains' Day hosted by Brian Sabey, Lyn Davison assisted by Sam Cates - our last event of the outdoor season - was a great success.
The raffle in aid of Young Epilepsy generated £95. Thanks to all who donated prizes and bought tickets.
54 members and guests sat down to an excellent 2 course meal produced and served by David Rigg, Belinda Young, Fiona Sabey & Ann Pannell. Gary did sterling work behind the bar.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon of themed bowls and there was a great atmosphere afterwards in the full clubhouse. Winning team was Delia Terry, Roy Dukes & John Davison who collected a Toblerone bar each for their efforts!
Our new sponsor Richard Heberden visited us and stayed for the meal.
Michael Wretham took the usual photos and a selection will be posted idc.

We would like to thank Beadles Kia of Coulsdon and Eyeworks Redhill for their continued support in 2016. Beadles Kia have printed our Fixture Card for us and are supporting our open days. Eyeworks have sponsored the printing of new match cards.

Julian at Eyeworks is offering club members up to 20% discount.

Both are sponsoring key club events - see the front page of the Fixture Card. Click on logo at top left of this page for link to their websites.

We are pleased to announce our third sponsor - Heberden Wealth Management - providers of financial advice. They have supplied us with smart new scoreboards.

Why don't you join a friendly local Bowls Club?

If you are new to bowls and thinking of playing outdoors in the summer do come along during the season and see our facilities - ideally on a Monday evening; or another day by arrangement. After familiarisation with the sport newer bowlers can then join in further taster sessions, roll ups or informal games. Call the clubhouse on 01737 763404 just before your visit especially if you are arriving after 7.00 p.m. - if there is no response call Ralph on 07808 174060 or John on 07817 616161.

We also run a midweek short mat league and Saturday afternoon drives in our clubhouse from October to April. Contact John on the above number for more information.

You will need some flat-soled shoes such as plimsoles/trainers. We will loan you some bowls so you can try out the sport before making any commitment. We have 3 qualified bowls coaches who can help your introduction to the sport. We do not charge for coaching.

We do not pressure people to join the club straight away Once you are certain the sport is for you then you can then join at a special introductory rate of £50 for the first year - reducing pro rata through the season. The 2016 Summer Membership fee is £95 p.a. - reducing pro rata through the season. There are no further green fees. Winter Membership for the Short Mat Season is an additional £15 p.a. Junior Membership (under 25) is £20 p.a. but only £10 in your first season.

For more information contact Ralph Wycherley Tel: 07808 174060
or e-mail:

The Summer season starts in April and ends in late September. New members can enjoy a "roll up" any afternoon or evening on weekdays - dress code is mufti but not jeans. On most weekends the green is used for matches against other clubs or club events.

We have three weekly games for newer bowlers - a fun “Drive” each Friday evening suitable for novices, a Tuesday Triples League afternoon match for those who have gained some experience and a similar Wednesday Evening Pairs League on non-match days - these leagues are ideal for those wanting to play in the future for the Club in matches against other clubs; or in Club competitions; or just having a competitive game against other Club members. For Short Mat information refer to this area of the website.

We welcome all ages from 12 upwards (for young bowlers we have a designated Child Protection Officer).

There are also a number of social functions through the year and Social Membership costs £15 p.a. - this entitles you to play up to 5 times a year in social events or roll ups.

We are a private club and our facilities do not specifically cater for the severely disabled. We have a large car park and are conveniently located for public transport.
