2016 Winners

Border League

On Saturday 13th August the Redhill Men's team played Horley in the final of the Border League Cup. We won on both rinks 14-12 and 25-14. It was nice to have a few supporters from the club and the RBC team thoroughly enjoyed winning the cup for the club for the first time since 2008.

Chris Hunter reports on the final match:

"We had a quite astonishing 10 point win at Newdigate on Tuesday 16th, where we were a man short, lost in space I think...
Here is the result.
Rink 4 - Redhill 15 - 11 ( Redhill fielded 3 players so score of 20 reduced by 25%)
Rink 5 - Redhill 22 - 14
Rink 6 - Redhill 17- 14
Overall Redhill 54 - 39

I would like to say thanks to all who could make it including Vinnie Stolle, Barry Martyn and Alan Beaver who came in at short notice and raised their game!

We managed to finish 3rd out 5 teams in Div 2 by shot difference having scored the same points as 4th and 5th!!!!!! We were only 10 points from promotion!! Final order in Div 2 was:
1st Monotype (46 pts) 2nd Newdigate (46 pts) - both promoted - 3rd Redhill (36pts) 4th Dorking 5th Horsham Park

And we beat Horley to win the Cup and they won Div One !!!!!
Reigate Priory and Lindfield are demoted to Div 2.

So a good end to the season!!"

Top 4

Surrey Area 3 Top 4

Gary Parsons, Paul Eales, Bryan Gaunt and Chris Hunter played a strong Epsom Park team in the semi final of the Surrey Area 3 Top 4 on Sunday 14th August at Sutton BC. RBC went down 25-13 but we were in the hunt at 15 ends with only a shot in it, but could not hold on.
RBC took on Wallington in the 3rd vs 4th playoff and going into the last end we needed 2 shots to go to the extra end but ended up with only one shot and lost 20-19.
We have enjoyed the journey to get here and RBC has again reached the finals day in this event.
Epsom Park proved too strong for Carshalton the final and will represent Area 3 in the Surrey Area final on September 4th.
Well done to Gary, Paul, Bryan & Chris plus John Davison who played as reserve twice during the earlier rounds. Photo shows RBC qualifying for the finals with a good win over Purley Bury.

Green Stewards Needed

The Club is open for roll ups on weekday afternoons and evenings. Call the clubhouse before you travel if you are intending to come as we need more Green Stewards - see below.

Several members have had to relinquish their Green Steward duties. We urgently need volunteers to do one weekday afternoon or evening once a fortnight. You do not need to open the bar just the clubhouse. Full instructions will be given and keys provided. Please contact Monty if you can help on any of these sessions: Wednesday evening; Thursday afternoon or evening.

Why don't you join a friendly local Bowls Club?

If you are new to bowls and thinking of playing outdoors in the summer do come along during the season and see our facilities - ideally on a Monday evening; or another day by arrangement. After familiarisation with the sport newer bowlers can then join in further taster sessions, roll ups or informal games. Call the clubhouse on 01737 763404 just before your visit especially if you are arriving after 7.00 p.m. - if there is no response call Ralph on 07808 174060 or John on 07817 616161.

We also run a midweek short mat league and Saturday afternoon drives in our clubhouse from October to April. Contact John on the above number for more information.

You will need some flat-soled shoes such as plimsoles/trainers. We will loan you some bowls so you can try out the sport before making any commitment. We have 3 qualified bowls coaches who can help your introduction to the sport. We do not charge for coaching.

We do not pressure people to join the club straight away Once you are certain the sport is for you then you can then join at a special introductory rate of £50 for the first year - reducing pro rata through the season. The 2016 Summer Membership fee is £95 p.a. - reducing pro rata through the season. There are no further green fees. Winter Membership for the Short Mat Season is an additional £15 p.a. Junior Membership (under 25) is £20 p.a. but only £10 in your first season.

For more information contact Ralph Wycherley Tel: 07808 174060
or e-mail:

The Summer season starts in April and ends in late September. New members can enjoy a "roll up" any afternoon or evening on weekdays - dress code is mufti but not jeans. On most weekends the green is used for matches against other clubs or club events.

We have three weekly games for newer bowlers - a fun “Drive” each Friday evening suitable for novices, a Tuesday Triples League afternoon match for those who have gained some experience and a similar Wednesday Evening Pairs League on non-match days - these leagues are ideal for those wanting to play in the future for the Club in matches against other clubs; or in Club competitions; or just having a competitive game against other Club members. For Short Mat information refer to this area of the website.

We welcome all ages from 12 upwards (for young bowlers we have a designated Child Protection Officer).

There are also a number of social functions through the year and Social Membership costs £15 p.a. - this entitles you to play up to 5 times a year in social events or roll ups.

We are a private club and our facilities do not specifically cater for the severely disabled. We have a large car park and are conveniently located for public transport.
