FRIENDLY MATCH REDHILL BC v HORLEY BC

31 August 2020

To all RBC members

You may be aware that we have tentatively arranged a friendly match against Horley BC. Both clubs agree that they would like to participate and are now in the process of ensuring there are enough members who are able to play as well as volunteers from Redhill to help on the day. A limited bar service is proposed for drinks to be taken on the terrace. Otherwise the clubhouse will only be open for toilets/hand washing and masks should be worn when inside.

The match will be held on 19th September at 2.30pm (in the event of bad weather the match may be held on 20th September at 2.30pm).  Matches would finish at 4.30pm approx.

The concept is that the Redhill fun competition winners would play the Horley fun competition winners. Priority will be given to the players in the order finished in the fun competitions. (A player cannot qualify for more than one event). The RBC Triples competition play off is scheduled for 13th September. If this is delayed by bad weather and cannot be rearranged before the friendly match, then priority will be given to the team in 1st position after the round robin is completed.

Paul Eales will make the final team selection and check availability. The format will be 4 matches on 3 rinks:

4 wood singles followed by a 2 wood singles
Pairs
Triples

We are asking RBC members to volunteer for the following:

3 people as score board turners
1 bar person
1 administrator on the day (to record attendees etc)
1 umpire (this position has already been filled)

We will also accommodate a maximum of 10 spectators from each club to enable social distancing to be observed. RBC will give priority to (in no particular order):

members who played in the fun games
green team staff
green stewards
family members of people playing in the matches

If you would like to volunteer or spectate please email to Steve s.whiting40@ntlworld.com as soon as possible but at the latest by 12th September and advise if you will attend on 20th September in the event of a weather postponement.
