GREEN STEWARDS – APPEAL FOR VOLUNTEERS

15/05/2020

To all members

Bowls England has now issued detailed COVID-19 guidance to clubs on reopening. This will be supplemented by club specific guidance currently being prepared. Accordingly, we are planning to re-open the green with a target date of Monday 1st June.

One important need is for a green steward to open the club and allocate rinks on weekday afternoons (2.15 to 5.15pm) and evenings (5.45 to 7.15pm), which will also involve locking up after play.

For the time being play will be restricted to roll ups for 2 members on each of 3 separated rinks on weekdays. An online rink booking system is under development to control the number of players coming to each session. The clubhouse will only be open for the use of toilets and wash basins.

We appreciate that existing green stewards may be unwilling/unable to carry out these duties. So we are looking for volunteers to sign up for an afternoon or evening session either on a weekly or fortnightly basis. Training will be given to anyone performing these duties for the first time. Existing green stewards who are willing to continue in the role will be given priority on their current session.

Please contact Brian Sabey by phone on 07919 043179 or e-mail at bsabey57@gmail.com as soon as possible if you can volunteer or continue to act as a green steward.
