GREEN TEAM UPDATE APRIL 2023

25/04/2023

The close season work has now been completed. The Green Team has worked extremely hard through the close-down in order to complete the schedule of work as planned.

Thank you to all those extra volunteers on Friday 14 April. Much appreciated!

Some Dos and Donts which will ensure that the Green is looked after by ALL who play on it:

Respect the Green. It is a living organic thing and must be treated as such.

Note that there are 6 rinks available to play on.

Do not always play on the same rink.

Do not always play on the closest.

Try to use individual rinks only once per session. It would be useful if the Green Stewards would accordingly allocate rinks to be used.

The above will spread wear over the whole of the Green.

Do not drop bowls on to the Green. Indentations are difficult to repair, and the green will not run true.

Do not run on the Green.  Running creates in excess of 30 times more pressure on the surface compared with walking and create an uneven playing surface.

Do not throw/launch woods. Develop (if necessary, with the help and guidance of the Club’s coaches) good bowling technique. Scarring caused by poor techniques is extremely difficult to repair and takes time for the repair to be effective, It normally results in rinks being taken out of play for varying lengths of time.

Varey the position of the mat and vary the jack length.
