2021 SEASON – UPDATE

07/04/2021

The Club Committee met via Zoom last night. The following was decided.

GET TOGETHER

This will not be held this season. Watch up for e-mails, Latest News on the Club Website and Facebook posts. If you have questions please approach a member of the Committee.

OPENING DRIVE

This will be held on Sunday 18th April – 2.30 pm start. Barry Martyn will organise the format of the day. We can only have a maximum of 24 playing due to COVID restrictions. Booking is on a first come first served basis – contact for booking is Bryan Gaunt. No spectators allowed unfortunately.

RINK BOOKING

Under the Bowls England Covid-19 Guidelines issued on 26th March it is a requirement to have a rink booking system until at least the end of Step 2 currently 17th May. From our opening date of 19th April until 17th May we can play club matches and drives when 24 bowlers can participate – this is “Organised Sport”. Coaching is also permitted. However, the main activity in this period at RBC will be roll ups. This is “Informal Activity” as defined by Bowls England and their ruling is only 6 members are allowed on the green each session.

Six rinks are available to book with 3 one hour sessions per weekday plus 1 additional sessions on a Wednesday and Thursday. Thursday evenings are for key holders only as we have no Green Steward for this session. If you are booking to play with another member then you must book 2 rinks. On arrival you can still play together on one rink as allocated by the Green Steward. No spectators are permitted at any time.

The booking system used successfully last year has been updated and bookings can be made via your smartphone or online using your pc/laptop/tablet up until 6 hours before the chosen time. The procedure is:

Log on to the Redhill Bowling Club website

Select Members Area on the Main Menu

Enter the password too gain entry – this has been emailed to members today.

Select a date and time for your booking and enter your email and name/activity in the booking description (e.g. John Davison Roll Up) and select Confirm Booking.

You will receive a confirmation e-mail with a cancellation facility if needed.

Please make a test booking in the next week to familiarise yourself with the system (put TEST in the activity if you are not planning to attend). All test bookings will be wiped prior to the opening date.
