HELP TOMORROW PLEASE

26/09/2019

The Green Team will be starting to spread the 3 tonnes of lawn sand tomorrow (Friday) morning. This was delivered on Tuesday morning when rain prevented much work being done on the green.
While the Green Team are sand spreading there are plenty of other jobs to be done as part of putting the green to bed e.g. lifting the ditch mats. Help with these other jobs would be appreciated – so come along from 9.15 am.
The morning should start dry but if it does rain then probably not a lot of point helpers coming on this occasion.

CAPTAINS’ DAY

23/09/2019

The rain held off for most of the afternoon so our members were able to first play a Spider in aid of Visually Impaired Bowlers which was won by Nicola Baldwin. This was followed by 16 ends of the Men’s Captain v Ladies’ Captain Team Match. Sam’s team beat Lyn’s team by a 7 shot margin to win the Frank Hall Trophy.
44 members and family then enjoyed a tasty 2 course meal prepared by Belinda Young and David Rigg.
A most enjoyable final event of the summer season and many thanks to all who helped make the afternoon a success.

PUTTING THE GREEN TO BED

23/09/2019

The green is open this afternoon (23rd) until about 7.00 pm and the Green Team will be putting the green to bed starting tomorrow morning (Tuesday) from about 9.15 am.
Help from other members would be appreciated to lift the ditch mats and other non-heavy tasks.

CAPTAINS’ DAY

22/09/2019

The current Met Office forecast suggests that this morning’s rain will ease off with a 10% chance of rain from 2.00 pm onwards.
We aim to play bowls if conditions allow so if you have signed up please do come to play or watch and then join in the meal prepared by Dave and Belinda. If bowls is not possible there will be alternative activity in the clubhouse.

CAPTAINS’ DAY

20/09/2019

SHORT MAT DATES

19/09/2019

The full fixture list can be viewed in the Short Mat section of the RBC website.
The league teams will be finalised at Captains Day on Sunday. If you haven’t signed up and want to play on a Tuesday/Wednesday afternoon through the closed season then contact Steve Whiting ASAP. You can also ask to be a reserve when teams are short of a player.
Sign up for the Saturday Drive in the clubhouse or call John or Lyn Davison

We have now completed the schedule for both of our internal leagues. Well done to Essex and Wiggie for winning their respective ones. Also many thanks to all the team members and reserves who have played in these matches this season.

Well done to all the finalists for some excellent bowls on Finals Weekend. Many thanks go to the Competition Secretaries – Lyn Davison and Sam Alan for all the prior organisation and on the day; to the umpires and markers; to the Green Team for keeping the green in such good condition and for sweeping both mornings; and to the many spectators  who helped create a super atmosphere during the matches.

The trophies will be presented at the Club Dinner. Sign up with your menu choices at the Clubhouse. Tickets are priced at £30. Please pay Ann Pannell or Ros Penton if you would like a ticket.
