CLUB FINALS – 7th/8th SEPTEMBER
Congratulations to all who have reached a final and many thanks to all the other members who have entered club competitions this year and given us some entertaining matches.
Several members are in multiple finals and it takes a few days to establish the timetable for the finals weekend. Unless we are notified otherwise it is assumed that finalists are available for all sessions on both days. The timetable will be posted in the Clubhouse, on the Club Website and on Facebook as soon as possible.
Sam has kindly offered to provide light lunches on both days (details to follow) and the kitchen and bar will be open for drinks during the day.
Any questions to Sam Cates or Lyn Davison please.
HORLEY TRIUMPH IN BOROUGH PAIRS FINAL
Peter Brownlow and David File of Horley Bowling Club won the Reigate & Banstead Borough Pairs bowls tournament with a score of 21-12 in their final against Rob Stockdale and Ivor Gillespie also of Horley. In the play off for 3rd place Steve Whiting (Redhill) and David Hall (Chipstead) beat Janet Harris and Tony Buckee of Horley 18-7. 12 teams had contested the earlier rounds and 4 teams contested the semi-finals and finals at Redhill BC on a sweltering Bank Holiday Monday.
Well done to Ames Brisley for the organisation and the many helpers from RBC on the day.
Thanks also to Beadles KIA Coulsdon for sponsoring the event and providing a super 1st prize in the raffle won by David Rigg.
NORTH DOWNS LEAGUE – UPDATE
RBC completed their NDL fixtures on Sunday 25th August with a comprehensive 10-0 win at home over Old Coulsdon with all three rinks winning by a comfortable margin – giving an overall shots score of 69-32.
RBC are currently 2nd in the table but can be overtaken by Reigate Priory who only need 2 points in their remaining fixture away at Ashtead to do this.
Whatever happens RBC are assured of their best placing in the NDL in recent years – maybe ever? Well done to all who have taken part this year.

SURREY AREA 3 TOP 4 FINALS – 11th AUGUST
Area 3 Top 4 Winners were Chipstead 21-14 in a tense final v RBC. RBC had a fine win 21-19 against a strong Caterham side in the morning semi finals but couldn’t repeat this in the afternoon. Fine performances though by Alan Stepney, Brian Styles playing in the first round with Roger Gatland and John Davison. Alex Gaunt and Bryan Gaunt then played with Roger and John in later rounds and the finals. Well done all.
BORDER LEAGUE
Despite a 9-1 win in our final league match against Horsham Park on 8th August we were unable to overtake Popes Mead for the top spot in Division 2. RBC are promoted to Division 1, with Dorking and Newdigate demoted to Division 2 for next year’s league.
In the Border League Cup Final played at Popes Mead on 10th August congratulations go to Horley who won on both rinks against RBC. Horley retained the cup and topped Division 1 – so well done indeed to them.
