SURREY AREA 3 TOP 4 FINALS – 11th AUGUST
Area 3 Top 4 Winners were Chipstead 21-14 in a tense final v RBC. RBC had a fine win 21-19 against a strong Caterham side in the morning semi finals but couldn’t repeat this in the afternoon. Fine performances though by Alan Stepney, Brian Styles playing in the first round with Roger Gatland and John Davison. Alex Gaunt and Bryan Gaunt then played with Roger and John in later rounds and the finals. Well done all.
BORDER LEAGUE
Despite a 9-1 win in our final league match against Horsham Park on 8th August we were unable to overtake Popes Mead for the top spot in Division 2. RBC are promoted to Division 1, with Dorking and Newdigate demoted to Division 2 for next year’s league.
In the Border League Cup Final played at Popes Mead on 10th August congratulations go to Horley who won on both rinks against RBC. Horley retained the cup and topped Division 1 – so well done indeed to them.
LATEST RESULTS
RBC had a very good 10-0 win in the North Downs League against Horley on Wednesday 7th August. We are now 3rd in the table with 3 matches remaining – 2 against the teams above us.
RBC are currently in line for a place in the NDL Presentation Top 4 Tournament at Bletchingley on Friday 13th September at 2pm.
In the Border League yesterday evening at RBC we won 9-1 against Horsham Park. Promotion to Division 1 was already assured and we await other results to find out our final position in Division 2.
AREA 3 TOP 4 SEMI FINALS /FINAL & BORDER LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Latest news is that the Top 4 Area 3 finals will be played at Bletchingley on Sunday 11th August starting at 10 am. RBC play Purley Bury A in the semi finals. RBC team is Alex Gaunt, Roger Gatland, John Davison & Bryan Gaunt.
In a big weekend for RBC our guys play Horley on Saturday morning at Popes Mead in the Border League Cup Final. Both clubs have won the Cup in the last 2 years so a close contest is on the cards.
