CLUB FINALS 2023 – NEARLY DONE!
On a breezy but dry morning a good number of spectators today watched an excellent Ladies’ Championship Final. After a very close first half Shirley Parris managed to pull away from Janet Brunt to become 2023 Ladies’ Singles Champion. Well done to both ladies for a very good game.
Shirley became the latest holder of the Temple Newell Cup presented to RBC by Alderman Temple Newell in 1934 – he bowled the opening wood on our previous club green in Gloucester Road in May 1931 and was Mayor of Reigate from 1928 – 1931.
As Jim Mason has now recovered from his recent illness we are pleased to also report that he and Shirley will contest the postponed Mixed Pairs Final against Allan Penton & Ros Penton on Sunday 24th September starting at 11AM. Do come and watch!
