OUTDOOR CLUBS LEAGUES AT DONYNGS IBC

06/02/2025

The final round of the Spitfire League yesterday saw RBC run out 10-0 winners in Section A against Caterham cementing our top position. With a comfortable win on one rink, the other two rinks were quite close for a while but on these RBC managed to secure good wins.

Well done to all the RBC players who enabled us to remain unbeaten over the 6 matches with an average score of 8.5 out of 10.

In Section B the leaders Banstead Neville scored an impressive 10-0 win against second place Epsom. This enabled Purley Bury to leap-frog Epsom to secure a place in the finals. RBC will play them in the semi-finals. The other semi-final will be Banstead Neville v Caterham.

In the Colin Hibbs League Redhill teams currently hold 6th and 12th positions after playing 8 matches with 7 matches to come.

The league tables are shown below.

In a tight match against Brockham on Wednesday in the Spitfire League RBC claimed all 10 points. So we currently lead the Squad A table and are guaranteed a place in the Semi-Finals/Finals on 12th March. Our final league match v Caterham on Wednesday 5th February at 4.30pm will determine our final position and whom we play in the Finals. It could be any of the top 3 teams in Squad B.

In the Colin Hibbs League Redhill A are in a very respectable 5th place having had 5 wins out of 8. Redhill B had a good win over Caterham B earlier in January and join 5 other teams with 2 wins. So still possible to climb the table.

Well done to all our players in both leagues.

SHORT MAT UPDATE

31/12/2024
Text of e-mail sent to relevant members:-
The temporary surfacing of the access track through the allotments to enable us to hold the Christmas Coffee Morning did not stand up to the wet weather in the second half of December and the heavy vehicles accessing the site during this period.
The Contractor has been actively organising a permanent solution. This is now planned for 6th/7th January which means we must delay the start of the 2024/25 Short Mat Season once more. Our first short mat session is now planned for Saturday 11th January (be there for 1.50pm please) and these will continue on Tuesday and Saturday afternoons going forward.
Please keep an eye out for any further announcements in case circumstances change especially if there is bad weather next week.
As previously advised the RBC Directors have waived the short mat fee for 2024/25 and any fees already paid will be reimbursed or credited against your 2025 subscriptions. The normal £2 charge per afternoon will still apply to cover the cost of refreshments, heating and lighting.
