YESTERDAY AT BLETCHINGLEY BC THE CLUB  WON 8-2  SECURING THE EAST SURREY LEAGUE 2ND DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP.  SO REDHILL ARE PROMOTED TO DIVISION 1 IN BOTH THE EAST SURREY & BORDER LEAGUES.

We have just heard that Pauline passed away this week after a long illness most recently spent in hospital.

Pauline was a long serving member of the club playing in many mixed and ladies’ club competition finals and played in many matches against other club. She and husband Bert tended the flower beds at RBC for many years.

Pauline stopped playing outdoors about 12 years ago and more recently enjoyed playing short mat at RBC and watching Bert play when she was no longer able to.

Our sincere condolences go to Bert.

The Marathon Sports Pairs is on Monday 31st August. Helpers needed. Please add your name on the Clubhouse noticeboard if you can help or donate a cake. Or just let Lyn Davison know and your name can be added. Raffle prizes also very welcome.

To All PLAYERS who have signed up for the NDL match against Leatherhead on Wednesday 12th Aug. In consultation between both clubs the match is CANCELLED due to the warm weather forecast.

On Thursday 6th August RBC went to Downsman BC having already secured the Division 2 Title. A tight 8-2 win gave us 10 wins out of 10. Only the second time this has been done in this league. Well done to all who played during the season and to those who came along to support …

At Popes Mead on Thursday 30th July RBC secured the Division 2 Championship with an 8-2 win.

Six well balanced triples teams battled it out over a Round Robin in morning and afternoon sessions.

There were 17 spectators and helpers watching during the day.

Gill Jarrett kindly organised lunchtime catering and ice creams and most if not all those present stayed for lunch and kept the bar ticking over!

Winning team were Anne Currie, Ken Ede and Bryan Gaunt. See sidebar for image of the finalists.

• Starting at 10.30 am there will be 3 sessions of a Round Robin each of 5 ends
• During the lunch break filled rolls, sausage rolls and ice creams will be available at modest prices (many thanks to Gill Jarrett for volunteering to do this)
• At approx. 2.30 pm there will be 2 further rounds of the Round Robin
• After a refreshment break the 2 top teams on points will contest a final of 6 ends
