TELECOMS MAST CONSTRUCTION

16/10/2024

Text of email to all Members (via bcc)

Construction works for the Telecoms Mast commenced on Monday with enabling work for the pile installation and power supply cabling completed yesterday. Site activity will re-commence in earnest next Monday.

For safety reasons from next week access to the Club will be limited to Roger Gatland (who is our nominated contact with the Contractor); Clubhouse Maintenance activities; and the Green Team. No casual attendance by Members please!

The Annual General Meeting will be held as planned on Thursday evening. When entering the car park please keep well clear of the taped enclosure on your right. Park as near to the club house as you can. When leaving it will be dark at the back of the car park so if you are reversing from your parking space be aware of the taped off construction plant on the right of our green gates as you exit. The footpath side gate can be opened on request if wish to walk to the club or cycle.

Three photos have been posted on Facebook, our WhatsApp Group and the Club Website/Latest News showing the enclosed mast site awaiting the piling, and the two taped off areas mentioned above. From these you can see that the car park is currently quite wet following the recent heavy rain. It should dry out to some degree by Thursday evening but try and avoid any residual damp spots and muddied areas.

We have giving careful thought to Short Mat activities during the construction period. Safety is our prime consideration. The risk to Members (some arriving by taxi) crossing a possibly slippery construction site cannot be ignored.  It has been decided very reluctantly to defer the start of Short Mat until after the Christmas/New Year holiday by which time construction should be complete. The Short Mat fee will be reviewed when the new start date is confirmed.

The Trophy Presentation Evening on Saturday 9th November is to go ahead. Steps will be taken with the Contractor to ensure that the Car Park is fit to receive Members’ vehicles. The footpath side gate can be opened on request. Similar arrangements will be made for the Christmas Coffee Morning on Saturday 7th December. The Contractor does not currently intend to work on Saturdays.

These arrangements will be regularly reviewed during the construction period as we become more knowledgeable about the Contractor’s operations.

Regards
