2021 SEASON – UPDATE

01/04/2021

The Emergency Team met via Zoom on 31st March to discuss the Bowls England Covid-19 Guidelines issued on 26th March – these deal with arrangements for Steps 1 and 2 ending no earlier than 17th May.

We are pleased to announce that lawn bowls can re-commence at RBC. With the Green Team’s input it has been decided that the green will open for “informal” bowls (i.e. roll ups) from Monday 19th April. As per last season we are obliged to utilise a booking system to regulate attendance. Until the end of Step 2 we will operate two one hour afternoon sessions and one evening session on weekdays. A maximum number of 6 bowlers will be allowed on the green at any “informal” session. A further update will be issued in due course giving details of how to use the booking system.

We greatly appreciate the work by the Green Team to get us to this position. The green had major remedial work done last Autumn and members must take great care when bowling to avoid damage to this new surface.

We anticipate that club matches, club competitions and leagues will be run subject to numbers participating. In this respect, if you have not done so, we urgently need your subscription forms returned to Gill Jarrett or me to enable the Committee to assess these numbers and plan accordingly. This is a higher priority that receipt of your subscription.

Further announcements will be made about arrangements for club matches and events (Opening Drive and Charity Drive) during Step 2. A maximum of 24 participants will be possible for these. No spectators will be permitted.

Information on Tuesday & Wednesday leagues, Friday drives and club competitions will also be provided once we are in a position to formulate these.

We are grateful to those members who have volunteered as a Green Steward. We have coverage for all weekday sessions except Thursdays where have one volunteer. If you can help cover a Thursday session once a week or once a fortnight then please contact Ann Pannell.

Please be aware that Government/Bowls England Guidelines will be revised from time to time and the dates for transition between the various steps can slip. We will update our arrangements accordingly and advise members via e-mail, the Club Website/Latest News and Facebook. Please check your e-mail spam folder in case our messages have been diverted there.

Yours sincerely
