We were delighted that John and Joan Hoad could join us at the Men’s Invitation Day on 28th July for John to receive this prestigious award for his significant contribution to the sport of bowls.
The award was presented by Roger Lanham, SCBA President accompanied by Derek Harvey, SCBA Secretary.
16 teams competed on a fine day at RBC with Chipstead, Godstone, Sutton B and Felbridge filling the top four places. Dickie Day collected the trophy for Chipstead surrounded by the other finalists and Monty Brigden, RBC President. Our thanks go to Eyeworks Opticians for their sponsorship of the event, to Gary Parsons and Ames Brisley for the organisation, Belinda Young and David Rigg for the catering and all the other members who helped on the day.
The draw for this year’s competition has been made. Any queries to Ames Brisley
A very enjoyable afternoon at RBC. Winners of the fun bowls were France (Brian Cox, Carole Wedge, Allan Penton and Val Hobart and the Runners-Up were Denmark (Edna Brisley, Rob Hobart and John Davison). Best costumes were Lyn Davison and Roger Gatland (see photo!).
Congratulations to the Redhill team (Roland Simon-John Davison-Roger Gatland-Paul Eales) in beating Purley BC 20-14. Redhill will play either Horley or Bookham in the next round, to be played by 6th August.
John Currie has kindly agreed to cover this session and hopes to arrive at the club to open up at about 2.30 pm
